This morning, I received exciting news! “Deputy While Immigrant” has won awards in the 4th quarter 2023 Firebird Awards. I am absolutely delighted and happy to share the news that my book placed second in the categories “Memoirs” and “Nonfiction Narrative.” The email reads, “I am delighted to announce that you have been selected as a recipient of the 4th quarter 2023 Firebird Book Awards. On behalf of the entire committee, I want to extend our heartfelt congratulations to you. (…) Your hard work and
dedication have paid off, and I am excited to see where your literary journey takes you next.

This is encouraging news, and the recognition humbles me.
